Toll Troll
Toll Troll, a free mobile application designed by FNX Studios, is now available to help Seattle and Eastside commuters save time and money crossing the SR-520 and I-90 Lake Washington Bridges. The app provides up-to-minute toll pricing information on SR-520, which varies depending on the time of day and day of the week commuters use the bridge.
Additionally, Toll Troll leverages live Seattle area traffic pattern information from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to calculate projected travel times for the SR-520 and I-90 bridges in both directions. Based on this information, the Toll Troll Mood will change between happy, indifferent and angry to help commuters decide which route will be the fastest, most cost-effective option to reach their destination.
Toll Troll was created as an easy way to inform commuters about what they can expect to pay if they choose to cross the SR-520 Bridge, and provide information to help them decide if they could potentially save time and money by taking the I-90 Bridge instead.
Features You'll Love
Confused about the SR-520 tolling system? We were too – that's why we created Toll Troll. We designed this app for two main reasons: (1) to inform you – the commuter – about what you can expect to pay if you choose to cross the SR-520 Bridge, and (2) to provide you with helpful information to decide if taking the I-90 Bridge instead could potentially save you time and money. So how exactly does Toll Troll do that? Check out our awesome features to find out.
He Gets Mad So You Don't Have To!
A quick glance at the Toll Troll Mood can tell you whether you’ll be smiling or scowling as you try to cross Lake Washington. Each mood – happy, indifferent and angry – is based on the projected time saved or lost using the SR-520 Bridge. Users can customize their Troll's mood to define the amount of time savings needed to make a happy Troll, and thusly a happy commuter. Accurate, easy to view toll pricing information, which automatically adjusts fees with the Good to Go! setting, also means no surprise costs.
Where Ya Headed?
Going to work or just trying to get home? No matter which direction you're headed Toll Troll can help get you there, while saving you time and possibly a few dollars too. A simple button allows users to toggle between eastbound and westbound travel time estimates, so drivers can obtain the latest bridge drive time information in both directions.
I-90 OR SR 520
No more hemming and hawing about whether or not to carpool. With Toll Troll, you have instant access to both bridge travel time estimates and HOV lanes status. Not only can you decide if it's worth putting the kids in the car or picking up your colleague down the road, commuters will also have the power to help improve traffic flow by taking advantage of less congested routes.
Seattle Area Traffic Conditions
Toll Troll isn't just limited to Lake Washington Bridge information. Commuters also have access to current traffic conditions directly from WSDOT, including other major Seattle area roadways – like I-5 and I-405 – to help plan their entire commutes.
Trolls Have Friends Too
It's commonly believed that trolls live alone under bridges not wanting to be bothered. Not true! In fact, this troll has a very lively social network. Integrated with Facebook and Twitter, Toll Troll allows users to inform their social networks about how the app helped them save time traveling across Lake Washington. Now that's what we call valuable information to tweet about.
